Broadview Community Youth Group seeks Board Members
The Broadview Community Youth Group (BCYG) is a charitable organization currently operating out of the Broadview Housing Co-operative in East York. Our aim of this group is to provide programming for youth between the ages of 5 and 14 who live in East York and Riverdale.
The BCYG is currently gearing up for its 2009 programming year, including our 8-week Summer Day Camp, with plans to launch daily programming in Fall 2009, and adding more programs and clubs over the next couple of years. Teens will be encouraged to participate in the Group's leadership training program and help as volunteers.
We are currently seeking members of our community to serve on our Board of Directors. Preferred candidates will have some level of experience at fundraising or working with children/youth. Previous involvement with charities is also an asset, as is living or working in our service area (East York, Riverdale and/or Leaside). Terms would be for 2 years beginning in July 2009.
In particular we are looking for a Chartered Accountant or someone with a finance background to oversee finances of the organization and possibly serve as Treasurer. We are also looking for someone with a strong knowledge of our community to assist with fundraising.
We are a fairly new organization, so this is a good opportunity to help us develop and grow.
