We have an after school pinch doing pick ups and until about 5:30 or 6 pm and we are wondering what kind of solutions others have worked out.
There are also three Wednesday mornings coming up in November that we need some help with drop offs.
We have been thinking about paying for registration at
http://www.canadiansitter.ca. It talks about connecting us with students in early childhood education who have driver's licenses ... that so…

We had an unhappy experience at Hair by Nature on the Danforth and we felt we treated very badly -- they lose the appointment but look at us as if we are lying -- ignored -- made to wait -- ignored some more. If we hadn't prepaid we would have walked out. So we won't go there again and we hope others will avoid them as well.

The meeting is at 812 Broadview at 7pm on Wed Sept 30.

All the talk about hot water, flat rates for water etc is just a reminder that it's worth checking your phone plans whether you're with Bell, Rogers or whoever. We're just changing our plan at the cottage. The plan was ancient - we were paying a fortune for long distance. Now it's $15 a month for 500 minutes Canada and U.S.A. Other thing to keep in mind is that you can kill your plan during the off season and re-start when you need it - no cost either way.

A while back we received a brochure from Toronto Hydro done up by a slick marketing company (probably one near and dear to my heart :) telling me about my great opportunity to conserve energy and save money by getting rid of the two 175L water heaters that I have on flat rate that came along with my house when I bought it.
In short, they are kicking me off their current service at my expense.
It is probably a good thing ... I am interested in saving money and energy and the broader environment…

Toronto Star - "Backyard composters were a popular item before the city introduced the green bin program almost seven years ago. During the 39-day civic workers' strike, they started to make a comeback. The attractions are obvious: Composters are easy to set up and easy to use. They produce great soil for your garden and, most important, they…

TO Star-"Employees say they are under pressure to fill the Michigan-bound garbage trucks to their maximum weight of 35.7 tonnes and get them out of the station as fast as possible. Green bin organics are much heavier than regular dry garbage so tossing in a few tonnes is an "easy" way to get the job done fast, they claim."

I just wanted to post a ringing endorsement of Patrick McMurray's new
Ceili Cottage at 1301 Queen St. E.
Here is
a great article about the place with awesome photos.
The design of the place is world class IMHO. Long Bar along the back, building from the 1800's as "cottage" in the middle and a Leslie…
