Looking for part time child care solution ...

We have an after school pinch doing pick ups and until about 5:30 or 6 pm and we are wondering what kind of solutions others have worked out.

There are also three Wednesday mornings coming up in November that we need some help with drop offs.

We have been thinking about paying for registration at http://www.canadiansitter.ca. It talks about connecting us with students in early childhood education who have driver's licenses ... that so… Continue

Converting from flat rate Toronto Hydro water heaters????

A while back we received a brochure from Toronto Hydro done up by a slick marketing company (probably one near and dear to my heart :) telling me about my great opportunity to conserve energy and save money by getting rid of the two 175L water heaters that I have on flat rate that came along with my house when I bought it.

In short, they are kicking me off their current service at my expense.

It is probably a good thing ... I am interested in saving money and energy and the broader environment… Continue

Cayley, er, Ceili Cottage

I just wanted to post a ringing endorsement of Patrick McMurray's new Ceili Cottage at 1301 Queen St. E.

Here is a great article about the place with awesome photos.

The design of the place is world class IMHO. Long Bar along the back, building from the 1800's as "cottage" in the middle and a Leslie… Continue

Great Moment @ Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market

This is Susur Lee and Jamie Kennedy in side by side booths at the Farmer's market. These are the two hottest chefs in Toronto aren't they?

The day was perfect. My five year old son, Thomson & I went on a hike in the valley and "discovered" all of this just in time for lunch. After some amazing food, it was time to go see frogs in the habitats around behind.

This is already an amazing project and it is just going to get better.

Thanks so much! The Danforth East Arts Fair is well underway. We have approximately 35 artists confirmed and are now seeking volunteers to help us during the big weekend, Sept. 19 and 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in East Lynn Park.

You can check www.danfortheast.ca for a list of artists next week. Watch local media for coverage of our inaugural show! What we need most of all is help spreading the word.

Thanks Michael. I am a long time Riverdale resident and I'm always interested in what is going on in the neighbourhood. Helping out with many community initiatives such as the Riverdale Share Concert, Green Oasis on Broadview and the Withrow Park Farmer's Market I thought this would be a good place to stay connected.

Thanks Michael - she's a local mum new to social media and networking, so I thought this would be a good place for her to connect.

Hi Michael, thanks for the retweet earlier! The fellow who organizes the Game On at The Groove Bar is a friend of mine, and I usually go when my Sundays are free. They do more than the weekly event - they've done outdoor events at the Toronto Harbour front and Nathan Philip Square.

Hi Michael -- Thanks for welcoming me as a new member.

I wanted to let the Riverdale community know about a new Awards Program for Newcomer Women which our organization is establishing. It is called the Catharine Parr Traill Awards for Newcomer Women. We are currently working to promote the Awards and seeking nominations -- deadline August 17-- from which we will select the first 5 recipients who will receive their Awards at the official launch on Wednesday, September 23 at Metro Hall. Details including Awards criteria and nominations form are available on our website at www.newcomerwomen.org
Thanks,
Marilyn Sanders, Project Manager
